Among the centuries-old practices within the holistic approach of aromatherapy, modern CBD candles harness the mood-boosting benefits of scents and the therapeutic benefits of cannabis.

These candles are made exclusively from 100 percent organic ingredients, and terpenes from cannabis are added to each candle to replicate the fragrances of cannabis strains. Aside from its decorative effect, CBD helps alleviate inflammation and arthritic pain, is used to calm muscle spasms, helps people relax and get better sleep, lowers blood pressure, and, when you finish candling, the leftover wax can be used as a soothing massage lubricant to relieve period cramps and inflammation of the joints.

If you are ready to make your own CBD candle and want to learn how to do so, the recipe is definitely at the end of this article.

Key Takeaways

  • Organic and Health-Conscious: CBD candles are made from 100% organic ingredients, incorporating high-quality terpenes from various cannabis strains, which make them not only a health-conscious choice but also highly aromatic and effective in mood enhancement.

  • Therapeutic Benefits: These candles offer multiple health benefits. They help alleviate inflammation and pain, promote muscle relaxation, lower blood pressure, and aid in getting better sleep. The CBD infused in the candles can also help soothe menstrual cramps and joint inflammation when used as a massage lubricant.

  • Versatile Usage: In addition to their decorative and therapeutic uses, the wax from CBD candles can be utilized as a soothing massage oil, enhancing the sensory experience of relaxation practices such as yoga or meditation.

Benefits Of CBD Candles

One of my favourite gifts were CBD candles—these wonderful soothing scents interwoven with the health benefits of cannabidiol. CBD candles not only add to your home environment, but they also bring about many health benefits. All of these are toxin-free and made from 100 percent organic ingredients; they truly are a health-conscious product. Inside, these candles can contain high-quality terpenes from various cannabis strains.

This makes them extremely aromatic, with mood-eliciting scents—not only do they look beautiful as part of your home decorations, but they will smell great too! With these candles, you will also experience reduced inflammation and pain, as well as benefits such as improved muscle relaxation, lowered blood pressure, a healthier night of sleep, soothed cramps, and joint inflammation. The wax used in these candles also works very well as a massage lubricant.

Reduce Stress Levels

The first and perhaps most prominent advantage of CBD candles is the incredible stress-relieving effect. Carrying on from where the candlelight left off, the terpenes floating on the air create an almost meditative experience. Lit or not, CBD candles have a profound calming effect that can effectively take the edge off. You can keep your mind clear and focus on the task at hand, meeting stress with a calm and composed response.

There’s a scientific explanation for the effects of cannabidiol, as CBD might interact with the human endocannabinoid system (ECS) to improve your mood and relax your mind and body. When it comes to creating the perfect homey or work vibe in a click of a button, CBD candles make a perfect addition to your inventory.

Help You Get A Restful Night’s Sleep

CBD candles are a great choice for those who are having trouble getting to sleep, as the CBD passing through the wax and smoke can make them feel relaxed and calm enough to get some sleep.

Because your body begins to wind down as soon as you light your candle, the surprisingly complex scent of cannabis terpenes can help you develop a routine, setting you up for the kind of clear and quality sleep you can only get if you have a ritual to help you wind down.

Natural And Holistic Approaches To Self-Care

Bringing CBD candles into our consciousness is part of a growing mindset towards natural, holistic health and self-care. The candles resonate with the principles of aromatherapy: fragrance mediates the mind, body and spirit connection. CBD candles marry the clinical outcomes of standardised treatments with the holistic benefits of essential oils and terpenes. They are, therefore, a thoughtful, all-encompassing approach for achieving the kind of self-care that is an integral part of the natural care movement.

How To Use Hemp Candles

These hemp aroma candles create a relaxing atmosphere and leave your space smelling fresh and clean.

Place it in a peaceful draft-free area and burn for a minimum of 30 minutes to let the wick melt completely. Always make sure the candle has enough melt pool area to avoid tunnelling, where your candle’s surface is raised leaving a hole in the middle.

After the wax is completely melted burn for a minimum of one hour. These candles burn well for a full hour before lasting longer. Perfect for relaxation, taking your hemp wax candle to your yoga or meditation session will enhance your experience with a light attractive aroma.

If possible use the warmth of the wax as a moisturiser for your skin or applied as a massage oil. Trim your wick to approximately a quarter inch before burning to maintain a clean surface. Never burn your candle unattended and always make sure it is out of reach from children.

How to Make CBD candles

Materials

  • Large glass mason jar
  • Hemp wick
  • 1 pound soy wax
  • 1 cup organic coconut oil
  • 1 ounce CBD isolate, or 1/2 oz CBD oil or tincture
  • Hot glue gun
  • Oven mitts
  • Double boiler
  • Food thermometer
  • Cardstock

Directions

  • Use your glue gun to attach your hemp wick to the bottom of your mason jar. Make sure you are centering it properly and leave a small quantity on the top to light it. Keep in mind that you will trim the wick later on, so you want to make sure it’s long enough.
  • Melt the soy wax and organic coconut oil in a double boiler at medium-low heat.
  • Secure the wick by using the cardstock. Cut it bigger than the mason jar top and make a hole in the middle of the card. This way, you will be able to pour the wax into the jar easily. The wick should now be suspended perpendicular to the bottom of the jar.
  • When the wax is melted, allow it to cool to 120°F, and use your food thermometer to gauge the temperature throughout the process.
  • Add your CBD oil to the wax and blend it as evenly as possible before moving on.
  • Slowly pour the CBD wax into the mason jar, keeping a firm grip on the wick to hold it in place. For this purpose, you can tie the wick to chopsticks or pencils.
  • Don’t pull on your wick, and make sure to leave about 1 cm space from the top of the jar.
  • Allow the mixture to cool for about 4 hours and trim the wick down to about ½ inch.

You can also use terpene extracts to provide delightful aromatic notes to your candle. Now you can decorate your jar. After use, you can take some melted wax and give yourself an oil body massage or soothe yourself with the aromatic pleasure of essential oils.

How to Make CBD Candles: Frequently Asked Questions

Can You Burn CBD Oil In A Candle?

Actually, yes: CBD oil can be burned in candles. And when you add CBD oil to candles, you need to make sure to mix it thoroughly with the wax to ensure it burns evenly and disburses its health benefits properly. More often than not, the CBD oil will be added to the melted wax mix along with essential oils and terpenes to infuse the candles with their fragrance, and then the wax itself is poured into a mold or jar. As the candle itself begins to burn, the heat from the flame melts and evaporates the CBD, causing it to, in conjunction with the scent of the candle, diffuse into the air.

Can I Make Hemp Candles?

Yes, the making of hemp candles is very similar to CBD candles, except the CBD oil is swapped out for the hemp oil. Hemp oil as well does have benefits to offer and can even give the candles a pleasant, natural aroma. And as before, do make sure you use pure, good quality hemp oil, along with safe, proper candle making materials.
