Liquid Psilocybin

Have your shrooms gone bad over time? Would you like your psychedelic experiences to be a little more lowkey? Meet Liquid Psilocybin, one of the newest ways to enjoy shrooms and preserve them for longer.

While a fairly new way to consume shrooms, the community has found easy ways to create at-home tinctures. Of course, these need more research and are a homemade way to enjoy the effects a lot easier and more discreetly. Some people even say that there’s a similarity between liquid psilocybin and LSD, which may be true of some sensations and effects, but also complicates things as they are completely different substances.

If you are interested in what liquid psilocybin is and how to make it at home safely, down below you’ll find a pretty nifty guide. From the differences between dry shrooms, to how liquid psilocybin works when compared to LSD, you’ll find all the basics to understand this new product.

So without further ado, let’s dive into the world of psilocybin in its liquid form.

What is liquid psilocybin?

Let’s start with the basics. Psilocybin is the active compound found in some mushroom strains. This compound is fully natural and is the psychoactive and psychedelic compound that gives magic shrooms, well, its magic.

Now, you can enjoy shrooms by eating them dry, infusing them into tea, or there’s a new trend of buying or creating liquid psilocybin by making an extraction.

From alcohol to oil, and even crystallization, the psilocybin community has found a way to add the substance into a base that can keep the properties for much longer.

This method is a home version of what scientific research has done in the lab to preserve mushrooms and create extracts. Research has noted for years that the liquid chromatography method allows for the separation of the hallucinogens, thus making it possible to get a liquid version of this compound.

Difference between liquid psilocybin and LSD

Liquid psilocybin extracts and separates the hallucinogen components from the organic material. Using liquid chromatography, these two compounds are extracted and infused into a culture or used on their own. Some people have even created Kombucha-like products that have psilocybin as well, adding flavors and honey to the mix.

In short, liquid psilocybin is an infusion or culture made from dry shrooms that can be broken down into psilocybin. Some people have also used this latter product and added it to drinks or solutions.

LSD on the other hand is a substance that is lab synthesized through a chemical process that imitates the effects of shrooms. While psilocybin’s chemical formula is called 4-ho-DMT, the compound found in LSD is called psilacetin and has the scientific name of 4-aco-DMT. While might sound similar, LSD is completely synthesized in a lab and man-made.

How long does liquid psilocybin last?

Depending on the method used for creating liquid psilocybin, shroom experts say it can last in the fridge anywhere between six and eight months. With alcohol-based solutions, liquid psilocybin can last a little longer, but we still recommend keeping your infusion inside your fridge to prevent other cultures from growing inside.

Liquid psilocybin experience

While there is not much information about the current liquid psilocybin experience, anecdotal evidence from those who have experienced it suggests that the effects are more intense when using infusions.

Though very little information exists on this topic, some  Reddit users have found that liquid psilocybin takes effect a lot faster. This happens as liquid doesn’t need to metabolize, unlike solids or shrooms, which can take anywhere from 30 minutes to an hour to take effect.

Also thanks to the extraction and concentration method of alcohol-based infusions of shrooms, the high can last longer as it is more potent. And since it can be consumed through a dropper, liquid psilocybin doses can be easier to measure than dried mushrooms.

Liquid psilocin dosage

This is something a little tricky. We recommend starting with 10ccs of the liquid dropper to start and slowly building up the dose for regular users. if you are just starting shrooms, try using about 5 drops to start and see how you feel after 15 through 30 minutes.

Some people claim that the 3.5 to 1 ratio can give a similar 1 gram of shrooms to 1cc of the liquid. However, this is mostly anecdotal evidence and we cannot guarantee that a drop of the liquid will contain this dose.

Overall and as with any other tincture, start with small doses and slowly build up until you get the desired effects. And of course, don’t use more than 10-20 grams of shrooms when starting your first tincture as a base, as it can really concentrate both the taste and effects.

Can you overdose on shrooms?

It is not very common to physically overdose on one of the many available mushroom strains that contain psilocybin. However, some adverse side effects can be pretty overwhelming, like anxiety, panic attacks, or psychological overdose.

Some of these symptoms are extreme paranoia or intense panic attacks. Even according to the DEA’s Drug of Abuse Resource Guide, you’d need to consume inordinately large quantities of shrooms to achieve an actual overdose.

The effects of a psilocybin overdose are believed to be more psychologically threatening than physically threatening. For example, where alcohol poisoning could result in death due to its physical effects on the body, a psilocybin overdose is more likely to cause long or short-term psychological stress.

A typical overdose would last around 6 to 8 hours, while some psychological effects can take days to fade out. So just make sure to start with smaller doses at first and always try these experiences in safe places. And as always, we recommend consulting with a healthcare provider if you experience any side effects or symptoms.
