Let’s start with the basics. Godfather OG is a 60/40 Indica dominant hybrid strain. As the result of a crossing between Bubba Kush, L.A. Confidential, and GDP, this strain is nowhere close to ordinary. Thanks to its lineage and Indica nature, users have said to feel happy, hungry, and even a little bit relaxed or sleepy. The flavor profile is pretty complex as well, starting with candy-like grape notes that slowly evolve into different undertones and aromas. Some classics can not be forgotten. And the looks of the Godfather OG is among them. As full-on eye candy, this strain has dense buds and strong and vibrant green colors all around. It also has a very pretty frosted look, thanks to trichome crystals covering the bud. This strain features large calyxes, but what we love the most are its bright purple hairs. Some varieties also have slightly paler orange hairs, but the mix of greens, purples, and oranges gives this dense bud some personality.

Like all good film sagas, this strain’s genetics has several parts. While some growers have crossed Alpha OG and XXX OG to make it, others have used OG Kush and GDP, or Bubba Kush, L.A. The flavor begins with piney, earthy, and grape-like flavors that slowly fade away with pungent undertones. Other perceivable flavors are grape, wood, and of course hoppy notes. In the aroma department, you’ll find earthy, pungent, and spicey notes. Some people have also reported getting grape candy aromatics as well, but that also depends on the variety of Don you are trying. If GDP is used in the mix, you’ll for sure get some of that fruity goodness as well, while other varieties might get more on the skunky side.

Godfather OG Strain Growing Info

Now, while complex, this strain is not that hard to grow. Thanks to its heritage, this flower can grow well both indoors and outdoors. If it is grown in the sun, expect this plant to harvest anywhere between early October. When grown indoors, this plan usually flowers in about 8 to 9 weeks. Meaning the harvest times come in about the 10 through 12 mark. This plant can yield anywhere between 350 and 450 grams per square meter when grown indoors, and up to 600 grams per plant when grown outside. This strain in general is not that big indoors, with the plant getting up to 3.5 feet. In the sun, these plants can grow up to 6.5 feet. So in general, the Don might seem complicated but it is a pretty noble strain to grow and yield.

There’s no strain like good old Godfather OG, but you might feel like you want something similar. Well, both Bubba Kush and GDP have incredible flavor profiles that have incredible potency and smoke. Also, they are basically the lineage from certain varieties of Godfather OG, so if you are into grape-like flavors go for GDP, or for kushy undertones, Bubba Kush is perfect.
