There are well over 100 different known cannabinoids and if you are going for potency, then THC-JD is one cannabinoid that you need to be familiar with. If you are looking to experience a strong cerebral and body high, much stronger than you might be used to with regular Delta-9 THC, then THC-JD is something worth trying.

Although THC-JD is potent it is technically legal at a federal level and it is available for purchase in many areas of the United States. Today, we want to answer some important questions. What is THC-JD? What are its effects? How does it compare to other cannabinoids? Let’s answer all of these questions and more.

What Is THC-JD

THC-JD stands for tetrahydrocannabioctyl, or more specifically, Delta-9 tetrahydrocannabioctyl. This is a rare cannabinoid found in hemp and cannabis plants as a naturally occurring cannabinoid. Since it only exists in such small quantities, extracting it from plant matter would not be feasible or cost-effective.

Therefore, THC-JD is usually made in a laboratory setting by converting CBD through a special process that we will take a look at further below. This particular cannabinoid is known for being extremely potent, much more potent than regular D9 THC, and this is what makes it so attractive to many people.

What Are The Effects Of THC-JD

In terms of the effects and the high that you will feel from THC-JD, this is all going to be quite similar to regular Delta-9 THC. However, the big difference is that THC-JD is up to 19 times more powerful than Delta-9 THC, and around 25 times more potent than Delta-8 THC. This is a very new cannabinoid, so exactly what the effects are cannot yet be said with 100% certainty.

There are barely any studies on it so far. The effects seem to differ from one person to another, and may also depend on the dosage, biological factors, and other cannabinoids that are present in a specific product.

Some people say that THC-JD produces a very strong Sativa-like high that is energetic and uplifting, whereas others say that it is more like an Indica-like high that produces a strong sense of couch lock and puts you to sleep. Some of the possible effects of THC-JD are extreme euphoria, elation, happiness, feeling energetic, talkative, giggly, and social.

You will likely be intoxicated in terms of both cognitive and motor function. In other words, you will feel intoxicated, likely to the point where it affects memory, reasoning, and deduction skills, and may also affect your balance, coordination, and reaction times. THC-JD may also produce strong senses of heaviness, tingling in the extremities, a feeling of warmth, hunger, sedation, tiredness, general calmness, and relaxation.

Simply put, THC-JD can likely do all of the things that regular Delta-9 THC does, but to a much higher degree. Due to its extreme potency, this cannabinoid is going to make you feel extremely high. Furthermore, because it is so potent, it also tends to last much longer than regular Delta-9 THC. THC JD may also have a variety of medical benefits, although unconfirmed, which may include the following:

  • THC-JD may act as an analgesic painkiller. This means that it effectively stops your brain from receiving pain signals from your nerves. It may reduce or eliminate sensations of pain.
  • This cannabinoid may also act as an anti-inflammatory, which means that it may reduce or eliminate inflammation, therefore also controlling pain.
  • THC-JD is also thought to act as an anti-nausea agent, plus it might be able to help stimulate appetite, which can be beneficial for a variety of reasons.
  • THC-JD may also be able to reduce cortisol levels in the brain, while simultaneously potentially being able to increase serotonin and dopamine levels. This would in theory help to decrease stress, anxious thoughts, and even depression. In simplest terms, it might act as a mood regulator.
  • Due to its potentially calming properties, as well as its sedative properties, THC-JD may also act as a fantastic sleep aid.

Side Effects Of THC-JD

THC-JD is very potent, and it produces a super strong psychoactive high, but along with this also comes with some minor side effects. Some people have reportedly felt some anxiety and paranoia due to taking high doses of this cannabinoid.

Other minor side effects include things like red eyes, dry mouth, hunger, dizziness, nausea, and extreme tiredness. With that being said, there do not appear to be any extreme side effects, certainly nothing toxic or life-threatening.

Is THC-JD Synthetic?

Technically speaking, this cannabinoid occurs naturally in cannabis and hemp plants. However, it occurs in such small quantities that extracting it is not cost-effective or feasible.

Therefore THC-JD, which we know and can purchase in stores is generally synthesized in a lab setting by converting CBD into it. So, although technically it is not synthetic, the version that we get in stores usually is.

How Is THC-JD Made?

THC-JD is made in a laboratory setting by converting CBD to it through what is known as an isomerization process. For those who don't know, isomerization is a process that transforms a molecule into a different isomer.

This THC isomer has an octyl chain with eight carbon atoms, as opposed to Delta-9 THC which has a pentyl chain with five carbon atoms. Yes, it all sounds quite difficult (and it is) but all you need to know is that THC-JD is made out of CBD.

When Was THC-JD Discovered?

This cannabinoid was only discovered in 2020, making it very new. For this reason, there are barely any studies that have been performed on it.

THC-JD Vs Delta-8 THC?

THC-JD is said to be up to 25 times more potent than Delta-8 THC. Both the body high and the cerebral high that you feel from this cannabinoid will be much more extreme and longer lasting than the high that you feel from Delta-8 THC.

Delta-8 THC produces a fairly light Indica-like high, characterized by feelings of euphoria, calmness, relaxation, heaviness, and couch lock. THC-JD may also produce these feelings, but they will be much stronger and longer lasting.

Furthermore, people do also report feeling more of a Sativa-like high. Exactly what you feel depends on who you are. If Delta-8 sounds like something for you, check out our own Botany Farms Delta-8 Strawberry Banana Kush Pre-Rolls.

THC-JD Vs THC-B?

In terms of the effects that you will feel from both of these cannabinoids, they are quite similar. THC-B is said to produce similar feelings to Delta-9 THC, but with higher potency. In fact, there are suggestions that THCB may be up to 30 times more potent than Delta-9 THC.

This would mean that it would also be significantly more potent than THC-JD, potentially up to 10 times. Both THC-JD and THC-B are some of the very strongest cannabinoids out there. They can produce extremely strong and long-lasting highs characterized by both cerebral and body feelings.

Is THC-JD The Same As THC?

If we are talking about regular Delta-9 THC, as stated above, THC-JD may be up to 19 or 20 times as potent. The feelings that you experience will often be the same, just much more pronounced. This could include very strong body highs and cerebral highs.

Some people say that THC-JD can be much more energetic and uplifting, like a Sativa, while others say that it is much more common and relaxing in nature, like an Indica. This is also the case for regular Delta-9 THC and depends on the exact strain that it comes from.

With that being said, no, these two cannabinoids are not the same thing. Yes, THC-JD is an isomer of THC, but they are not the same. Delta-9 THC features a pentyl chain with five carbon atoms, whereas THC-JD features an octyl chain with eight carbon atoms.

Is THC-JD Safe?

Although there is still more research required on this front, it is assumed that THC JB is safe, and certainly no more dangerous than regular Delta-9 THC. Although there may be some minor side effects, at this point, there are no indications that it could be toxic or life-threatening in any way.

THC-JD should be legal at a federal level. According to the 2018 Farm Bill, any cannabinoid that is hemp-derived and contains less than 0.3% Delta-9 THC should be legal. Although this does appear to be a bit of a legal loophole or gray area, THC-JD at this time is still technically legal, although individual states may prohibit it at their discretion.

Where To Buy THC-JD

THC-JD is still very rare, and it is quite hard to find. That said, there may be some local dispensaries or online retailers that have it available for purchase.
