Serving size: 400 drops

Prep time: 5 minutes

Cooking time: 60 minutes

Total time: 65 minutes

Cuisine type: Cannabis recipe

Equipment

  • Baking sheet
  • Parchment paper
  • Glass jar with lid
  • Cheesecloth
  • Mesh strainer
  • 1 oz. glass bottle with dropper lid

Ingredients

  • 1/4 ounce of hemp flowers
  • 187ml of high-proof alcohol

If you want to vary the quantity of cannabis, use a 750ml alcohol bottle for every ounce of decarbed hemp flower. This formula will get you a mild effect, but if you decide you want more potency after trying it, reduce a third of the alcohol (500ml) and so on until you get the desired effect.

Step by step

First of all, wash your hands! Every good experience must bring joy, so let’s keep any potential sickness away and enjoy cannabis at its best.

Step 1

Let’s get that beautiful hemp flower decarbed. Preheat the oven to 240°F while you cover the baking sheet surface with parchment paper, then break up the buds with a grinder as much as possible, and spread the hemp on the covered baking sheet.

Step 2

Bake the ground-up buds for 40 to 60 minutes until they turn golden brown. Then, remove the baking sheet and set it apart for 15 to 20 minutes to cool. Now you have decarbed hemp flower!

Step 3

Add your decarbed hemp flowers to the glass jar and cover the hemp completely with the indicated quantity of high-proof alcohol. Put on the lid and shake it good. Then, place the jar in a fresh, dark location for 3 to 4 weeks while the alcohol extracts the CBD. Shake the bottle once a day to stimulate the cannabinoids.

Step 4

Wow, it has been almost a month by now. It is time to get this finished. Pour the infusion through a cheesecloth placed over the mesh strainer to separate the remaining hemp from the finished tincture so it drops in the 1 oz. glass jar with a dropper lid.

Step 5

Label your jar of tincture with the ingredients and the date you made it, and store it in a fresh and dark spot. Don’t worry; it will last for at least 2 years as alcohol is an excellent preservative. Now you know how to make CBD tincture and add it to your edibles and drinks toy to enjoy a new CBD experience.

How to Make CBD Glycerin Tincture

To make a CBD glycerin tincture, you just have to follow the same steps as to make it with alcohol, but this time replace the alcohol with glycerin. Glycerin is a common food additive that will give your tincture a scent of sweetness that alcohol will not.

The efficiency of alcohol to extract cannabinoids makes the tincture more potent than if you make it with glycerin but adding some more drops of tincture to feel the CBD acting properly.

Still, the high-proof alcohol is sometimes hard to get or afford, or sometimes you just want to try something different. Glycerin is a common food ingredient entirely safe for your health and useful to make tinctures.
