If you are looking for a new strain of cannabis to try, a nice hybrid with relatively mellow effects, and something that isn’t way too strong and mind-numbing, then the Blueberry Diesel strain might be something worth checking out.
If you’re a fan of hybrids that give you the best of both worlds, as well as really strong and fruity flavors, then Blueberry Diesel is definitely a strain to puff on. Let’s take a look at everything you need to know about Blueberry Diesel before you stick it in your pipe.
What is the Blueberry Diesel Strain?
Blueberry Diesel is a slightly Indica-leaning cross between two fan-favorite strains, Sour Diesel and Blueberry. Here, you’re going to taste a strong blueberry flavor with just a little hint of diesel fuel. It has a low to moderate THC level, therefore making it ideal for beginners and veterans alike.
It’s the kind of weed that you can easily smoke without being blown sky-high, (at least if you don’t consume too much of it). Most people say that it has an absolutely fantastic flavor and that the high is euphoric yet relaxing, but also not too overwhelming. Blueberry Diesel makes for a good afternoon, evening, or nighttime smoke.
Blueberry Diesel Strain Appearance
Blueberry diesel is one of those strains that you should be able to recognize if you have some experience on this front. First and foremost, these are some dense and sticky buds. They’re so dense that you really can’t squeeze them together, and if you try, the whole thing will just stick to your fingers.
This is some of the stickiest and ickiest weed around. Thanks to the super thick and white layer of sticky crystals surrounding the outside of this bud, you’ll want to handle it with care, because these buds stick to everything including each other.
The buds themselves are also fairly large, tapered, and conical without being perfectly round. They also have mossy green leaves that have fairly dark, almost rust-colored hairs. You might think that the buds themselves. or at least the leaves, are white but that’s just because of the crystals on the outside.
Blueberry Diesel Strain Genetics
Blueberry Diesel is a hybrid cross between two very popular strains, Blueberry, which is an Indica, and Sour Diesel, which is a sativa. Usually, the Indica side of things here takes over just a little bit, resulting in a strain that is about 60% Indica and 40% sativa.
First, we have Blueberry, which is a moderately potent Indica strain, one that is made by crossing two other strains, Thai and Purple Thai. This is one of the most popular strains ever, as it won the High Times’ Cannabis Cup 2000 award for the best Indica strain. This one is going to make you feel a bit sleepy and hungry, although not overly so.
We then have Sour Diesel, which is likely one of the most popular and sought-after sativa strains out there. This strain is made by crossing Super Skunk and Chemdawg, and here you’re going to get a super-fast, dreamy, and cerebral head high that’s going to light the fire under you. It smells like diesel, and it fuels you up like it too.
Blueberry Diesel isn’t overly potent, as it contains between 17% and 20% THC. It does contain around 1% CBG, although it really doesn’t contain any significant amount of CBD. Seeing as it’s not the strongest strain of weed, we do think that it is ideal for beginners, especially if only a little bit is consumed. That said, it should still be strong enough so that if you smoke a decent amount you will feel it. This isn’t only due to the THC content, but also because of the hybrid nature of this strain. We’ll talk more about the effects later on.
Blueberry Diesel Strain Terpenes
The dominant terpenes contained in the Blueberry Diesel strain include myrcene, caryophyllene, humulene, and pinene. These terpenes come together to create quite a complex flavor profile characterized by a berry, diesel, and chemical-ly flavor.
Blueberry Diesel Strain Effects
What many like about the Blueberry Diesel strain is that it produces a high that is pretty evenly balanced between Indica and Sativa. First, you’re going to feel the Sour Diesel side of things. You’re going to feel a strong head high characterized by feeling energetic, creative, happy, euphoric, and talkative. However, thanks to the moderate THC level, it shouldn’t make you feel paranoid or anxious. Then, from the Indica side of things, from the Blueberry, you are going to start feeling slightly sedated, heavy, relaxed, and possibly a bit hungry too, especially about an hour or two after consuming it. It’s a complex high that isn’t overwhelming.
Blueberry Diesel Strain Reported Flavors
The two main things that you are going to taste here, to nobody’s surprise, are the flavors of blueberry and diesel. At first, you’re going to taste blueberry, fruitiness, and citrus with just a hint of pine. Then, on the exhale, you’re going to taste that fuel-like diesel flavor with a hint of earthiness. Most people love the flavor of Blueberry Diesel. If these flavors sound tasty to you, stay tuned for our own upcoming Botany Farms Blueberry Diesel Pre-roll.
Blueberry Diesel Strain Growing Info
This strain prefers a warm and somewhat humid climate, and when grown outdoors, harvest is in early October. Although, it can also be grown indoors, in which case the flowering period is around 9 weeks. Many people like growing this strain as it is quite resilient to temperature and humidity changes, as well as to being handled roughly. It’s a good option for beginners who don’t have much experience. Just beware that these plants can grow to 6’ tall, so you’ll need enough room for them.
